Reel Life Movie Questions
Lately I've been going to the theater downtown in my city for new releases, but, as any movie goers know these days, trips to the cinema are getting more and more expensive. Just last month when I went to a preview of The Hate U Give with my friend, I got a ticket and found out I didn't have enough money on me for popcorn. I had barely had enough for a ticket as it was. So usually I'll just wait for it to release to DVD and rent it. I enjoy watching from the comfort of my home a lot.
I watch movies a lot. All the time. On a regular basis I have a movie next in line for me to watch. Right now it's part 2 of the extended version of the Hobbit An Unexpected Journey with my Dad.
For a movie viewing I don't always have to have a snack, or need very much. Sometimes, when I really want to study a film, be it for the story telling aspects, cinematography, director's style, etc., or critique it, I'll pull out a notebook and pencil and jot down things that stick out to me. One thing I do love to do with movies is watch some with friends or family. My Dad is particularly a fun person to watch movies with, in my opinion, because he and my Uncle watched lots of bad corny films growing up together and would just make fun of them. So my Dad more often than not has a great quip for the flaws in movies. Something I love partaking in. I greatly enjoy watching bad movies with fellow film buffs for the sole purpose of giggles.
The type of movie I enjoy... I enjoy a good movie. I like a good action movie as much as the next film critic. A lot. But I also love a good romantic comedy, adventure, dystopia, etc. If it's good, I'll check it out. My preferences usually fall within the realm of action, adventure, or drama. Good tension is something I live for but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy or won't watch other genres. As far as disliking movies, I can't specifically say because it's hard to really throw the movies I dislike into a box. It really depends on the project itself. Of course there are many trends in bad movies or movies I highly dislike that I could describe. I hate watching a film that doesn't fall into the category of being terribly laughably bad or is very good at all. Then it sucks all possibly joy. Otherwise known as okay movies. Okay movies are worse than actual bad corny movies in my opinion.
The survey I took said my movie personality was a kid at heart. While I am a kid at heart, I like to have fun, I wouldn't say my movie personality is secluded to animated or children's movies: I love a lot of good movies. Regardless of genre. But I do love a good animated film. Some of my personal favorites are How To Train Your Dragon (one of the most influential and almost flawless, grade A animated movies in general) (if you disagree with me, I ask that you look up the test drive and forbidden friendship scene), Lion King (it really is more than just a classic), and Moana. This isn't meant to direct any offense towards other animations: I can name quite a few other honorable mentions.
If my life story was made into a movie I'd have my villain be played by Jeff Goldblum. Seriously answering the question, I don't know who I would be played by. But whoever it is, I would rather have talent over attractiveness. If there is a movie to be made about me it wouldn't be about my looks or the outfits worn by my counterpart. It would have some humor, preferably. 3 main plot points would be
1. Me, a writer, goes to study abroad in France.
2. My touristy clumsiness leads me through a mysterious bookstore to accidentally infiltrating the CIA
3. They recruit me to infiltrate a writer's conference for a writer's recipe of chicken.
4. Plot Twist: I'm actually a evil secret agent reincarnated.
Telling you the ending now would be a spoiler. But it would be a bad ending and result in a sequel.
