Poetry Prompt - First cup of tea or coffee
Steam rises in towers above the mug
Warmth etched into its surface.
A soft, sweet, blissful tug.
The last spurt of water pours from the Keurig.
Radiant sunshine covers the table in silk,
Birds, however few, gather.
Into the heat, out of a jug, falls milk.
Embracing the start of a new matter.
I sit at our table,
The sun still strolls outside
I wonder if he has a good time
Bringing the morning to life
Like the morning before, and the one after that, and the one after that and the one after that
I think too much
I wonder what life would be like if I could change the past
Then I remember there's always lunch
But for the time being
I'd rather just sit a little longer here with my mug
I miss pieces of my past
But why should I think too hard
If it wasn't made to last?
Yes, the past can cause some scars
But looking back
Won't get you very far
Even if you're lonely
Even when you're sad
Just let the smell of the morning wash over your thoughts
And move forward
That's all we'll ever have
Breathe in
Breathe out
You too can find
What happiness is all about
In everything lies a blessing
All a part of God's brilliant plan
A plan that involves both you and me
Even if you don't yet see his hand
Sometimes when your mind is hurting
It's easy to carry the whole burden
But carrying it all will only hurt infinitely
Let it go, take a sip
Life, the day, is a journey
Enjoy each step
It may hurt to be lonely
It may hurt to be on your own
But you have the power
To make yourself a home.
